“Receiving the Leroy Warden and Associates Scholarship is a profound milestone, a nod to my high school journey and a push into university life. This award has not only highlighted the triumphs and resilience demonstrated throughout my high school journey but has also reinforced the belief I have in my own goals and aspirations.

As I prepare to step onto the University of Alberta campus this fall, the financial relief through the Leroy Warden and Associates Scholarship and the newfound connections through Mr. Warden and the network of past recipients will be an integral part of navigating University life, a new chapter that will undoubtedly require immense drive and determination. Furthermore, the award presents the opportunity to gain mentorship that will be an asset well beyond that in a classroom setting. Mr. Warden and his team reflect the altruistic and community focused principles I aim to uphold in the future.

My advice to future applicants is to try. Having a steadfast belief and confidence while actively pursuing your interests will inevitably lead to positive outcomes. Furthermore, don’t close doors on yourself due to a fear of failure. Throughout your moments of doubt, still try and learn from the outcomes. Take the risk, embrace the discomfort of putting yourself out there, and trust that your dedication will speak for itself.”
