“Words cannot express both the privilege I have accepting this award, and the honour I have being the chosen recipient amongst countless other names. Leroy Warden is a truly inspirational figure to me for giving back such a generous charity to the community. This scholarship will be a vital aid in the barriers that university will surely provide. As I navigate my young adult life in the coming years at the University of Alberta, I understand the focus and dedication it will take to get by. I am only greatly appreciative of the support offered by this scholarship as it is like a weight lifted off my shoulders. Oftentimes, students view scholarships for their monetary value alone and tend to look past other opportunities that can arise from them. Being this year's Leroy Warden scholar, I am most excited to start lifelong connections with not only Leroy and his team, but with the past scholars as well. I am only livid with the thought of the doors this scholarship will open for me as I head into my first year of university this fall

Here is some advice to future applicants that I have. Don’t be scared. In life, plenty of opportune moments are sure to fly by your doorstep. Don’t let anxiety and pressure of failure to stop you from trying your best and exploring the unknown. These are a few feelings that almost stopped me from applying to the Leroy Warden and Associates scholarship, but alas I took a leap of faith. Thankfully, it has led me to the amazing position that I am in today. Be brave, be steadfast, and be diligent in all that you find passion in.”
